Which island? Yeouido! I was one week too late for the annual blossom festival, but luckily there were still some views to be had and the weather was perfect for it.
We stumbled upon a wedding….
….in the grounds of the National Assembly…
Yeouido is a 6 sq km island in the Han River, and the location of many important buildings including the Stock Exchange and the HQs of a newspaper or two. The buildings are all very modern, and certainly more interesting than the usual tower blocks around Seoul.
And there’s also 63 Building, the third tallest building in Seoul and a tourist attraction including an aquarium and an imax cinema on the ground floor and a ’skydeck observation platform’ on the sixtieth floor. I wasn’t able to figure out what the other 61 floors were used for, but I suspect offices.
It sure is tall……and wouldn’t you know it? My camera decided to stop working just as I reached the top! I thought it was the battery, but when I got home I found the battery was fully charged and the camera working perfectly. So, until I get the pictures from Hyunjoo, make do with the cyber tour of the view from the website.
